A covered-track glass barn door has an upper cover around the track system. An exposed-roller design leaves the rollers and rail visible. That visual difference is a useful starting point, but a purchasing decision also needs the opening dimensions, door travel, mounting conditions, glass processing and supplied components.
This guide compares the covered-track single door, exposed-roller single door and double-door layouts in the YFX range. Use the photographs to identify the configuration, then use the drawing and component list to confirm what will be supplied.
Compare the three YFX glass barn door layouts

| Buying decision | Covered-track single door | Exposed-roller single door | Double glass barn doors |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visible structure | Upper track cover. | Visible rail and rollers. | Two sliding glass panels. |
| Drawing to request | Cover dimensions, mounting line and service access. | Rail projection, roller positions and glass fixing details. | Both panel sizes, meeting line, overlap and travel on each side. |
| Space to check | Panel travel, handle clearance and room around the cover. | Panel travel and clearance around exposed hardware. | Available travel for both panels and the required clear opening. |
| Soft-close review | Compatible damper and engagement positions. | Damper arrangement for the selected roller system. | Which movement and direction each damper controls. |
When should you choose a covered track?
Start with a covered-track layout when the design calls for a concealed-looking upper mechanism. The YFX soft-close glass barn door with covered track shows this configuration. Specify the cover finish together with the visible handle and fittings so the quotation addresses the complete appearance.
Ask how the cover is fitted and removed for inspection. Check its height, projection and end positions against ceilings, trim and adjacent walls. The presence of a cover does not establish a load rating, weather seal or maintenance interval; request those details for the selected system.
When should you choose exposed rollers?
An exposed-roller layout makes the moving hardware part of the visible design. Compare the YFX soft-close glass barn door with exposed rollers with the covered-track option when preparing a product range or project finish schedule.
Review the roller appearance, rail position, wall clearance and glass fixing detail together. Check access for cleaning and replacing components on the proposed installation. A similar-looking roller from another system is not enough to establish compatibility: glass holes, fittings, rail geometry and the soft-close assembly must match.
What changes with a double-door layout?
The double glass barn doors with soft close use two panels. Specify the finished opening separately from each panel size. The drawing should show where the panels meet, their overlap with the opening, handle positions and the usable passage when open.
For reference, the linked YFX listings show 940 mm × 2083 mm panel dimensions or customization; the double-door listing states this dimension per piece. This is not a substitute for measuring the finished opening. The listings also show 8 mm or 10 mm glass options. Approve the glass thickness and processing drawing with the matching hardware before ordering glass.
Choose a complete door or a hardware kit
State the required supply format before comparing prices. A complete-door quotation should list the glass, track, rollers, guides, handles, stops and soft-close components being supplied. A finished installation photograph does not identify the contents of every package.
If you source glass locally, start with the matching kit:
- Covered-track glass barn door hardware kit.
- Exposed-roller glass barn door hardware kit.
- Double glass barn door hardware kit with soft close.
These kits exclude glass. Confirm the included fittings, finish, track dimensions and compatible glass drawing in the quotation. Do not order locally processed glass from the photograph or nominal door size alone.
Confirm installation and soft-close compatibility
Provide the wall construction and the intended mounting location so the supplier and installer can review suitable fixing details. Record finished opening width and height, available travel space, nearby switches or trim, handle projection and floor conditions. If the door is intended for a wet-area installation, request confirmation of the selected system’s suitability and water-management details.
For soft close, confirm the supported panel specification, damper quantity, engagement locations and operating directions. A soft-close description alone does not identify the arrangement for every opening direction or double-door configuration. Keep the approved hardware and glass specification together if quantities or panel sizes change.
Send a quotation request that can be compared
- Choose the covered-track, exposed-roller or double-door reference.
- Send finished opening dimensions and the intended travel of each panel.
- Specify complete-door supply or a kit without glass.
- Identify glass thickness, finish and any available processing drawing.
- Confirm hardware finish, quantity, destination and packing requirements.
- Request the final component list and drawing revision with the quotation.
Use the drawing and quotation checklist to organize the information. To compare the YFX configurations for your opening, request a glass barn door quotation with the selected product link and dimensions.
