8 mm and 10 mm are the two glass thicknesses YFX lists for shower enclosure quotations. 8 mm is about 5/16 inch. 10 mm is about 3/8 inch. YFX confirms the thickness against the selected model, panel size, hardware and the buyer’s drawing. A complete enclosure includes the glass specified for that model. A frame-and-hardware kit does not include glass.
Choose the thickness from the panel and the hardware
Use 8 mm when the quoted model and panel size are within the hardware limits already used for that layout. Use 10 mm when the opening is larger, the door is frameless, or the buyer’s market standard calls for the thicker panel. YFX does not treat one thickness as suitable for every opening. The quotation should name the thickness, the glass finish and whether glass is included.
Glass finishes YFX can quote
- Clear
- Easy-clean coating
- Frosted
- Pattern
- Grey
The finish does not replace the thickness decision. State both in the inquiry. Frame material is a separate choice, covered in aluminum vs 304 stainless steel frames.
Complete enclosure or frame kit
Order a complete shower enclosure when the glass should ship with the frame and hardware. Order a frame-and-hardware kit when the glass is sourced separately. The kit still has to match the glass thickness, because rollers, hinges, U-channels and clamps are selected for a thickness range.
See complete shower enclosure vs frame kit for the supply-scope difference.
What to send with the inquiry
- Opening width and height, and the door type: sliding, swing, pivot, neo-angle, quadrant or corner
- Preferred thickness: 8 mm or 10 mm
- Glass finish
- Supply scope: glass included, or profiles and hardware only
- Hardware material and finish. Where the model allows it, YFX quotes 304 stainless steel hardware in polished chrome, brushed nickel, matt black or satin brass
- Destination country and any glass certificate the project requires
For a custom order, use the OEM drawing and quotation checklist.
Order terms that stay the same
The minimum order is 1 set, so one sample can be ordered in the thickness intended for the repeat order. For the frameless series, YFX states delivery of 15-30 days after a 30% deposit and a 10-year warranty. Confirm dimensions, material, finish, glass compatibility and the included components before production.
Questions buyers ask
Does YFX supply both 8 mm and 10 mm glass?
Yes. Product specifications list 8 mm (5/16 inch) or 10 mm (3/8 inch). The quotation states which thickness applies to the selected model.
Is glass included in every YFX product?
No. Complete shower enclosures include the glass specified for the model. Profile and hardware kits exclude glass.
Which glass certificate should I request?
Name the destination standard in the inquiry if the project requires one, such as SGCC, CE EN 12150, AS/NZS 2208 or CCC. YFX confirms the certificate against the quoted glass. One certificate is not automatically applied to every product.
Can I order one door before a larger order?
Yes. The MOQ is 1 set. Use the same size, finish, thickness and hardware planned for the later order.
Send the opening, thickness and supply scope from the contact page, or compare models in frameless shower enclosures.
Do not change the thickness after approval
A later change from 8 mm to 10 mm can affect hinge and roller clearance, U-channel size, packing weight and the glass certificate. Ask YFX to review the change before production.
